Gill joined the Crusaders through the club’s School Initiative programme, becoming only the second individual to join the club through the scheme. Uniquely, unlike the first participant, Gill was a member of school staff rather than a student.
Known for his handling skills, confidence on the court, and positive personality off it, Gill enjoyed an impressive debut season with the Crusaders. He made his first appearance for the club in a pre-season fixture against Warrington Wolves ‘A’, which would prove to be his only appearance for the Crusaders ‘A’ side before earning immediate promotion to the First Team.
Following his senior debut, Gill quickly established himself within the squad and became a regular feature in the First Team throughout the season. His performances and leadership qualities saw him cement a place in the starting line-up and become one of the club’s most dependable players.
Since then, Gill has continued to develop into a key figure within the Crusaders setup, being appointed club captain ahead of both the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
