North Wales Crusaders look to claim back-to-back league victories in their push for play-offs as they face Widnes Vikings in their penultimate home game of the regular season.
These two sides met in the a highly entertaining season opener over in Widnes back in June as the Crusaders came from being 28-16 down at half time to record a 73-39 victory.
Widnes will be looking to recoup some form following some league defeats against Warrington Wolves and Hereford Harriers, conceding a total of 178 points while scoring just 34. They will also be looking to come back from last weeks result which saw them forfeit their game with Salford Red Devils due to fielding ineligible players and for breaching the RFL’s strict team sheet rules.
They will be looking at their senior and former international players to help them to victory as they hope to avoid finishing bottom of the table. The Vikings will also be encouraged to see George ‘Gee’ Hill return, the former Ireland and Wales international returning to Wheelchair Rugby League following a medically induced semi-retirement.
Sunday will also see Kieran Lacey make his Widnes Vikings Wheelchair debut, a stalwart of the Warrington Wolves wheelchair team over the passed 18 months. Lacey is a former Widnes Vikings ‘Reserves’ player where he plied his trade before making his professional debut during the mid 1990’s.
