Pride Round

Pride Round: North Wales Crusaders are set to become the first Wheelchair Rugby League side to launch a dedicated Pride Round.

North Wales Crusaders will host a dedicated quartet of fixtures this weekend to celebrate Pride Month.

North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby League can confirm that Championship West Round 2 fixture against Warrington Wolves on Saturday 22nd June, and WRL Invitational League Round 4 fixture with Torfaen Tigers on Sunday 23 rd June will be the clubs official Pride Round, as the Crusaders look to support the LGBTQIA+ community.

For the RFL portion of the clubs Pride Round, the Crusaders will take on Warrington Wolves at Deeside Leisure Centre on the Saturday, scheduled for the 11:30am kick-off.

On the Sunday, both the Crusaders and Crusaders Celts will take to the field for the first time as they both take on Torfaen Tigers in Round 4 of the WRL Invitational League.

As part of the Pride Round weekend, which aims to support the LGBTQIA+ community and showcase some of the local community organisations, the Crusaders
players will be issued with commemorative Pride name plaques on the back of their chairs, whilst both Crusaders captains will don pride captain armbands throughout the weekend.

To assist in celebrating the weekend, the crusaders will be joined by several local LGBTQIA+ organisations, including Wrecsam Pride, Wrexham Rhinos RUFC and
Chester Centurions Touch Rugby.

North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Trustee Harry Jones has said: “Here at the Crusaders we are committed to the core values of Inclusion and
Respect”

“We as a club and charity have a long history of supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and we believe that everyone who engages with our sport is made to feel
welcome, valued and most importantly, respected”.

"We believe that Rugby is for everyone, especially Wheelchair Rugby League".

“This looks to be the first pride round in wheelchair rugby league, and we want it to be a forever fixture in the calendar”.

“By inviting local LGBTQIA+ organisations and sports teams down, we want to showcase that regardless of gender and sexuality, we are all the same and we all
want the same, and that’s to promote equality and inclusion”.

Throughout the weekend there will be advertisements, branding and guests from local organisations - as well as some fundraising for Crusaders' own Harry Jones, who in September will be travelling over the Amsterdam to play at the annual Pride in Touch Championships where he will be representing local side and event attendees, Chester Centurions.
