Crusaders All-Stars To Take On Wheelchair Side In Special Fundraising Clash

Representatives from across North Wales Crusaders will swap the traditional rugby pitch for sports wheelchairs as the Crusaders All-Starsgo head-to-head with the club’s experienced Wheelchair Rugby League side in a unique fundraising fixture.

Taking place at Wrexham University Sports Centre on Saturday 12th December, the event will bring the Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair squads together for a celebration of the Crusaders family, while raising vital funds to support the continued delivery and development of wheelchair rugby league and disability sport across North Wales.

The All-Stars squad will feature a mixture of familiar faces from the Crusaders Men’s,  Women’s and Wheelchair teams along with supporters, with the full line-up set to be revealed in the build-up to the event.

They will face a Crusaders Wheelchair side with more than a decade of experience in the sport, with the club having provided opportunities for disabled and non-disabled participants since its formation in 2013.

Wheelchair Rugby League is one of the sport’s most inclusive formats, allowing disabled and non-disabled players, regardless of gender, to compete alongside one another.

The fixture forms part of a fully collaborative event between the North Wales Crusaders Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair teams, celebrating the different pathways that make up the Crusaders family.

Alongside the action on court, supporters will have the opportunity to get involved with fundraising activities throughout the event, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Speaking ahead of the event, Harry Mitchell-Jones of North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby Leaguesaid:

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, so it’s fantastic to have the Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair teams working together to make it happen.”

“Wheelchair Rugby League is such a unique version of our sport, and there’s probably no better way to showcase that than putting some familiar Crusaders faces into chairs and seeing how they get on against our players!”

“Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to bring the whole Crusaders family together. We want this to be a fun event for everyone involved while raising vital funds that will help us continue providing opportunities through wheelchair rugby league and disability sport across North Wales”
