North Wales Crusaders A Vs Bradford Bulls 2nd June2019

North Wales Crusaders ‘A’ had a tough day at the office against a very strong Bradford Bulls side.
Bradford were quickly into their stride and the Cru defence were unable to handle the Bulls build up play and pace. The Cru defence were unable to stop the Bulls race into a 70-0 halftime lead. The Bulls found where the space was early on and kept exploiting that and unfortunately it was similar for the Cru defence to handle in the second. The positive from the game is Cru did not give up throughout and went close on numerous occasions, Steve Jones getting the only try for the home team. Bradford Bulls won the game comfortable in the end, winning 138-6

North Wales Crusaders Vs Rochdale Hornets 17 March 2019

Crusaders A opened there 2019 Championship campaign against Rochdale at home. Rochdale took an early lead in the game and despite the efforts of the team and the superb leadership of Bex Crusaders struggled to find an answer. Rochdale continued to have the edge over Crusaders despite some great defence as well as a couple of good attacks Crusaders went into the break 32 – 0 down.
The second half started as a repeat of the first but a determined Crusader’s finally saw captain Bex Laing go over the line for their first try of the game, Mason Baker stepped up and converted it.
Mike Griffiths in his debut game for Crusaders went over the line to give their second try of the game, unfortunately Bex failed to add the extra. Mason stepped up and punished Rochdale for a penalty in front of the sticks with a well struck kick. Rochdale firmly took the honours in the game with a final result of 72 – 12. Mason Baker was deservedly awarded Player of the match for the Cru.
Head coach Stephen Jones later said “despite the loss for a newly formed team with a couple of debutant players they gave a good account of themselves, yes we made a few silly errors but we also took a lot of positives away from the game”

North Wales Crusaders Vs Hull FC 22 April 2018

North Wales Crusaders firmly booked their place in the semi finals for the 2018 Cup with a convincing win over Hull Fc.

With Hull kicking off Crusaders safely fielded the ball and came back at Hull very strong. The next 5 minutes saw some great completed sets by both teams.  It finally dropped to Lucie Roberts to put the first score on the board after a fantastic passage of play, this was quickly followed up by the second try scored by Harry Jones which was then converted by Stephen Halsey. Hull then got on the score board with a converted try.  Harry Jones added his second try of the half again converted by Stephen Halsey, Stephen then put in an enviable performance with a hat-trick of tries one of which was converted.  Unfortunately whilst attempting her second try Lucie went head first into the wall and was removed from the game for the last 5 of the first half.  Crusaders ended the first half with a lead of 30 – 6.

The second half saw the return of Lucie after passing her HIA, Stuart Williams opened the Crusaders second half account with his first of two tries.  The second half also saw Lucie get her second of the day followed by Stephen getting his fourth try.  Harry also showed his kicking ability with a drop goal.  Mason Baker our youngest player converted two of the tries.

The game showed some solid performances from Captain Stuart with some great kicking from him, but not forgetting some superb over the top kicking from Stephen, Harry, Gary Taylor and Lucie.  Paul Southall had a superb game coming very close a couple of times to get on the score board also not to forget John Doyle who put in a great shift with some great defence.

All in all it was a great day for the Cru with some solid defence, imaginative attack but above all great effort and team work.

For the second tme lucie Roberts was voted as Player of the match

A revitalised Crusaders came out in the second half and put on an outstanding performance which saw Stephen Halsey opening the scoring in the second half with the first of his two tries,  the second half also saw Stuart Williams and Harry Jones open there scoring accounts with a try each as well as Stephen Halsey and Gary Taylor adding the two points.
